SMART Goals

SMART goals are a framework for setting objectives that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. Here’s what each element means:

  1. Specific: Goals should be clear and well-defined, answering the questions of who, what, where, when, and why.
  2. Measurable: Goals should include concrete criteria for measuring progress and determining when the goal has been achieved.
  3. Achievable: Goals should be realistic and attainable given available resources, knowledge, and time.
  4. Relevant: Goals should align with broader objectives and be meaningful and important to the individual or organization setting them.
  5. Time-bound: Goals should have a defined timeframe for completion, providing a sense of urgency and accountability.

By applying the SMART criteria to goal-setting, individuals and organizations can increase the likelihood of success by creating clear, actionable, and focused objectives.
